Thirty or even twenty years ago, it was safe to say that governments across the world left the construction industry alone. There was no intervention in the terms or performance contracts. Governments provided courts which resolved disputes and supervised arbitration.
All that has changed, fundamentally, and differently around the world. Changes have been brought to adjudication, payment provisions, arbitration, mediation and court procedure. It seemed to the author that it would be interesting to see how different jurisdictions have dealt with it. That sort of survey has the benefit and disadvantage of being general.
